Training: Safety mgr - construction fire

After registration, students will receive information on signing onto the webinar platform via ZOOM.  Please note access to PC with webcam and audio will be necessary to attend the live webinar.  Students will be required to show their state ID (example: Drivers license) at the start of the Webinar.  During the Live webinar, students will be able to interact with the instructor. Training will be actively proctored at all times.

Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) is responsible for ensuring that construction, alteration, and demolition work at a construction site is conducted in compliance with the requirements of the Fire Code.

New York City Fire Code Chapter 14 Section 1408, now requires that a Fire Safety Manager be present at construction projects that require a Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator.  Any Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator designated as the Fire Safety Manager at a major building must comply with the new training requirement - Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training.

Fire Safety Manager's Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Fire Safety Manager shall be responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Fire Code, and the FDNY rules. 
  • The Fire Safety Manager shall conduct an inspection of the construction site and all fire safety measures on a daily basis, and maintain a record in a bound log book or other approved system of recordkeeping. 
  • Where fire watch services is provided, the Fire Safety Manager shall be responsible for the general supervision of the fire guards.
  • Maintain an approved pre-fire plan at construction site
  • Acquaint construction site personnel with Fire equipment and systems as per the building code rules.

A Construction Fire Safety Manager shall be present at the construction site at all times when construction, demolition and alteration work is being conducted.
